Catching light...

We had a meeting in the University Village, Seattle. September is shaping up to be a very interesting month and the Fall calendar is filling up fast. This morning Barbie Van Horn and I were doing a last walk through for our Mobile Communications Boot Camp clock hour class, aka #mobilecomcamp ... There’s always new tweaks, updates, and changes to embrace in social media marketing.

Late summer blooms at Ravenna Gardens, University Village, Seattle.

As we canvassed the urban village I had to stop at one of my favorite stores, Ravenna Gardens, and take in their end of summer and fall flowers. They had a wonderful selection of Gerbera, Supreme Elegance Cone Flower, Shasta Daisy, Dahlia, and Primrose.

It’s just a few minutes past noon. There’s clouds rolling by with patches of blue sky and I’m enjoying the kaleidoscope of sunlight as it comes and goes under the peaceful gaze of this Buddha figure. Autumn is my favorite time of year in the Pacific Northwest.

Turning faces towards the warm afternoon sun. Ravenna Gardens, University Village, Seattle.

I love the late blooming flowers and the transition to autumn, especially those years when summer lingers on for a while. Cool mornings and warm sunny afternoons, the grass returns from summer brown to green and our coastal air is rich, kind of thicker, and fresh.

It’s probably all of those many years in school that autumn feels more like an arrival than a departure.

Hi Belinda Spillman ... The gardens were beautiful that day and indeed, a very Zen experience. I love their collection of Buddha's for your garden.

Thanks Myrl Jeffcoat ... That red is quite deep! Their contrast to the light and greens adds drama.

Hi Brian England ... It's a fun class. The village is our classroom! After travel, I'm enjoying some much needed 'domestic' time at home... Have a great rest of the holiday weekend. Thanks!

Hi Rene - Lovely photos. I especially like the one of the Buddha - a bit different than the usual.

Hi Dick Greenberg ... Me too. The Buddha is different than others I've seen. I wish I could have given you guys a jingle and at least stopped somewhere to meet in person, if only for a few minutes. We were running way behind and up and Adam and on the road again first thing the next morning. I sure enjoyed the landscape coming into and leaving Fort Collins, Colorado. What a beautful area.

Hi Nicole Doty - Gilbert Real Estate Expert ... Thanks! Timing is everything! I felt so fortunate to be there when the fresh flowers arrived and the sun was out.

Thanks Michael Thornton ! I think those red ones, and I'm embarrassed to say I'm not quite sure what they're called, are my favorites. Blooming flowers are not my expertise, I'll have to ask Roy Kelley, I'm sure he probably knows.

The red flowers in the bottom picture look like red coneflowers. Google 'red coneflowers' to see if you agree.

We usually see them in other colors.

Hi Rene -- all of your photos are wonderful but I must say as Dick Greenberg commented -- Buddah looks particularly thoughtful in the garden.

Rene,  It is so cool you know the name of all those flowers.  I get lost past carnation and rose.  They are beautiful.  Thank you for sharing.  An arriving not a departure...interesting.  Mark
