Barbara - Yes, it really is upscale and contemporary.  It does work well in large areas...and/or areas with good lighting.

Debbie- you've done it again..... informed and educated us about dark hardwood floors.  A friend of mine here is considering hardwood floors so guess where I'm sending your post!   I love the dark hardwood but if I had to make a decision now on which one to choose, I don't know if i could.
