Thirty days has September and there is so much going on in my area. Mark your calendars for some great events in Lewisburg, Greenbrier County for the month of September. There is something for everyone:
September thru October: Carnegie Hall’s Season of Colors Juried Art Exhibit
features rotating exhibits of regional artists in each of its three galleries. Exhibits are free and open to the public Monday-Friday from 9am-4:30pm and Saturdays from 1pm-4pm seasonally
September 8 - At the Greenbrier Valley Theatre - Time Again for Another Evening of Music and Laughter, Kermit's Kabaret Returns. This popular musical extravaganza returns for a night full of fun. Show tunes performed by the GVT's professional guest actors.
Tuesdays September 8, 15, 22, 29 also Saturday the 26: The American Heritage Music Hall - Jam and Dance Every Tuesday Night and Dance Every 4th Saturday Night from 7:00 pm to 10:00/10:30 pm. Located at the Island Park Roller Rink Building. Open to the public live music and dancing in a family type atmosphere, No Alcohol Non Smoking Facility. Enjoy local and regional performers as they jam out to bluegrass, folk, country, rock & roll and everything in between!
September 9, 16,23 and 30 : Brown Bag Concert every Wednesday in September take lunch outside and enjoy live music on the green space in downtown Lewisburg. FREE concerts from 12 noon until 1PM.
September 9-12 - Beehive - you still have time to see this great show! It is one show you will not want to miss especially if you like a ‘60s musical featuring classic songs by some of the most talented women of the era. The music is great and my favorite of all where the Janis Joplin’s songs. Beehive! is guaranteed to entertain no matter what decade you’re from. Tickets are $27 for general admission, $24 for seniors and $20 for children/students. Contact the Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT) Box Office at 304-645-3838 or go to GVT website.
September 12th:
8:30 AM - 2:00 PM: Alderson Memorial Bridge Day Celebration, is in honor of the bridge 101st birthday. It is the only concrete arched bridge left in the state of West Virginia. Enjoy a Community Market of food, produce, kids' games and live music. Shops and the train depot will be open with a car show on the bridge from 10am-2pm. For more information, call 304-445-2005.
Freshwater Folk Festival in White Sulphur Springs is always a fun event for the entire family. From 10am until 4 pm enjoy a full day of splendid music, tasty food, local crafts and fun hands-on educational activities built around the Festival mission which is to promote understanding, appreciation and conservation of freshwater resources and to celebrate the local natural history and culture of White Sulphur Springs and Greenbrier County. A Free event.
DARE to CRUZ Car Show in Lewisburg’s Historic District a chance to see vintage and street rod vehicles on display. All proceeds benefit the Lewisburg Police Department's D.A.R.E program. For more information, call 304-645-1626.

September 19: Honey Festival - be held at the Lewisburg Farmers Market on Saturday, September 19th, 8:30 am until 1:00 pm. The Lewisburg Farmer's Market and the Southeast Beekeepers Association are collaborating to celebrate the Honey Bees. Located at the parking lot by the Post Office taste some WV honey, honey sweetened delights and recipes, see some demonstration Bee Hive (See the Bees at Work) and take home some local West Virginia Honey.
September 20: Old-Time Square Dancing. Come out and enjoy dinner and dance or watch the old-time square dancing This month's square dance features Juanita Fireball and the Continental Drifters with caller, Lou Mauiri. Come at 5PM and enjoy food and beverage from Hill & Holler's restaurant. Square dance begins at 6PM. Cost of admission is only $5 (food and beverage sold separately.) Beginners are welcome. September 26:
Roller Vixens Derby, Final Bout. This event will be the Greenbrier River Rollers versus Greensboro CounterStrike at the WV State Fairgrounds.
Mountain State Rodeo - Mountain State Rodeo Association brings professional rodeo to Southern West Virginia. Come out for some good family fun.
Evening of Farm-to-Table Dining at The Greenbrier , 6PM -9PM Enjoy an exciting new dining experience at The Greenbrier featuring fresh seasonal produce both grown and prepared by the Greenbrier’s talented culinary team, $250 per person, call (855) 453-4858.
September 26 and 27 - The 2015 Greenbrier Champions Tennis Classic - Plan to join a two-day event at the Greenbrier for two thrilling days featuring three marquee matches between four tennis legends…. the coveted Pro-Am. Tennis Pro Emeritus Pete Sampras and John McEnroe will return to play in the fourth annual Greenbrier Champions Tennis Classic, along with newcomers Jim Courier and James Blake!
Don’t forget about the Farmers Markets in Lewisburg every Saturday until October 31st, from 8:00 am until 1 pm
Lewisburg Farmers Market located in the parking lot between the Post Office and Lewisburg United Methodist Church.
Greenbrier Valley Farmers Market - located at the Corner of US RT 219 and Arbuckle. The Wednesday market is open from 2pm-6pm.
