Stop Pitching meSure I will connect if you don't bury me with pitches.  It seems inevitable some virtual assistant, some web developer, some lead generating yahoo finds me here, or in Linkedin, or Facebook and lets me know we should connect.  I have a habit of connecting with anyone who asks who has a face.  What I mean by that is that I will connect with those who seem transaparent and real.  I will not connect to you if you haven't filled out your profile or added a photo.

Then it happens,  "Hi Larry, I see we are in the same business and I notice your websites, your lead generation, your workload....pick your pitch...is not as strong as it could be..."  Notice the generic sound of this pitch. They never mention the website---I have several. The never mentions specific's just that they can help me.  In my mind this is the worst form of marketing there is out there.

Listen to your Prospects first.Why would I ever work with someone who treats this like it is only a numbers game and not a people game.  In our profession we have to connect with a lot of people, but I would never say the same thing to absolutely everyone I meet, would you?  Why do these "alleged professionals" think that a generic pitch is ever going to work

I do make it a point to answer my requests. Some times I even accept the connection and say immediately, do not pitch me with some automatic and worthless pitch to my needs.  Sigh...rarely works.  I have never in all the connections over the years had someone come back to me and actually look at my websites or my blogs and say anything of substance.  I will never, ever work with someone like this, what do you think? Sure I will connect if you don't bury me with pitches.
