I was reading a blog by Lori Ballen of Las Vegas, Nevada called  Why a REALTOR® Home Value is better than a Zillow Estimate , and I wondered, "Hmmm...it would be interesting to see what our Zestimate is!"

So, I querried and wrote down the Zestimate.  Then, I did a comparative market analysis, and my professional opinion after viewing recent past SOLDS indicates our home value is $19,000 more than Zillow's valuation.

Sonja - The more you start seeing these comparisons between Zestimates and a Realtor's CMA, the more real it gets that anyone looking to determine the value of a home needs to speak with a local agent. There is only so much a formula can do to estimate a home's value.

Oh you got that right, Sonja. Real estate is local. A couple of years ago, I had an out of the area seller use Zillow to get a price for his home in my area. He insisted that was a fair value. The zestimate was much too high. In the end, and after wasting several months of the good summer market, the home sold for what I told him it would sell for.
