Aspen Leaf Viewing is Quickly Approaching in Colorado
One of the wonderful things about Colorado is the beautiful golden groves of aspen leaves as fall approaches. This past spring, we had more than our fair share of rain and I suspect that the aspen trees will be chock full of beautiful turning leaves as a result. I am anxious to get up in the mountains and capture some beautiful photos.
Everyone starts to get the itch as soon as the calendar reads September, but right now is way too early for optimal viewing. Sure you can enjoy fields of aspen trees with bright green leaves, but the yellow, red and orange are still a few weeks away.
The calendar of locations with ideal viewing dates has not been published just yet. You should check with the local news channel websites to see when and where you should go. Typically the third and fourth week of September are the best for viewing. If you miss viewing in one location, just head to another. The trees put on their show in a staggered progression across the state so there are always incredible scenes to take in.
Here are a few photos from my previous aspen peeping trips.
