Throwback Thursday: Santa Barbara Airport

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Napa Consultants DRE00893924

I took a photo of what Santa Barbara airport looked like in the last century.  The first airstrip was built in 1914.  The  original Spanish style terminal was commissioned by United Airlines in 1942.   This original building (pictured above) was moved and integrated with the new airport which opened in August of 2011.

Happy Thursday,

Been there many times our company(defunc) was across the boardwalk. The old airport was really old. I love the colored tiles.

If you enjoy viewing old SB. Here is a thread:

Such a great snapshot of history. I'm glad to hear they did not destroy this great building and chose to integrate it in to the new airport! It's sad when places like that get torn down instead of re-purposed.

That is a blast from the past.  I love that swirly staircase.  Kind of looks like a baggage shoot.

Hi Ron & Alexandra - Great picture. It's easy to imagine a DC-4 pulling up to the terminal. That was the old days when air travel was an exciting adventure and passengers were pampered.

Back when air travel was simple and airports were not a pain in the butt. In some ways it seems like we don't make progress as humans or make thigns worse.

Great picture of history, have a great week!

That is crazy, even the smaller airports these days don't look like that anymore.  Such a neat picture!!!
