The Nevada Contractor's Board takes unlicensed contractor activity VERY seriously.
You can search on their website to see if the company you are hiring has a valid contractor's license.  It is also very easy to report unlicensed contractor activity on their website.
In this video I speak about an incident where a home inspector went back to do repairs on a home outside of the scope of their contracting license.
