Tree Cut Seating...Say What?

The tree was storm damaged and it had to come down. Just wish I had come home sooner. Definitely would have had the chair facing in a different direction.

They were ready to cart all the debris away but I stopped them.

All that beautiful wood.  There must be a good way to re-purpose it.

Stay tuned, I am going to figure it out.

Hey, I'm open to suggestions for using this wood outside.

Maybe seating, tables, planters, bird feeding...

Any ideas on back yard staging ?

I don't know about re-purposing for your yard, but there are no doubt plenty of people who would love to purchase it for their wood stoves.

Hi Margaret -- while looking at the chair -- I'm just thinking about the splinters....

Many people slice the wood to be used for serving purposes on a buffet table. My recollection is that mineral oil or walnut oil is used on the wood slices after they are sanded.

I think you got home about a half hour too late to make a custom formed throne Margaret. I do see the potential in monitoring any future felled trees. You could have quite a comfortable piece overlooking the plantings of a garden.

Good Thursday morning Margaret. I have seen these tree cut seats before. Very interesting but impractical.

Looking forward to the post when we'll find out what the end use will be!  At my house, it would end up in the fireplace : )

Brent Comber side table

There's a local woodworker here, Brent Comber, who makes side tables and coffee tables out of twigs.  Wonder if you could take the wood to a local woodworker near you?

Sally Weatherley  That is a great idea but with great big tree...no small twigs were saved. Stay tuned, I have some thoughts.
