Halloween Home Sales

Festive functions are usually a great time for not only local families but whole communities. Halloween is notorious for its creepy social aspects. Most houses begin the month of October by decorating the house with frightening electronics, lurking creature and spooky music. But what if you’re selling your house? Can you not participate? How does your home look if you withdraw from the uproar altogether? It’s crucial when selling your home to be aware of the “do’s” and “don’ts” when selling your home at this time of year!

Do create a Fall theme: Your prospective buyers are aware of this time of year so adding a little extra flair such as a pumpkin candle or a fall leaf wreath is perfectly fine. You’re creating a slightly themed homey setting rather than a gory mess. Keep it light.

Don’t forget the kids: Remember children may be accompanying their parents during a showing. You are creating a negative tie to the home altogether and a greater struggle for the parents before and after the showing if you have something in the house that scares them.

Do be aware of debris: The day after Halloween it may be a good idea to clear your walkway of possible debris such as candy wrappers, costume parts and so on. You want your prospective buyers to have a clear view of the home, not be distracted by an array of crumpled ghouls and goblins. Also, safety comes first! If something is left out you certainly wouldn’t want someone to trip or slip!

Visibility: You’re going to be getting a lot of visitors on the last night of October! Have fun but consider it as a freebie marketing opportunity. Try to make your For Sale sign as visible as possible. Leave caution tape and cobwebs off of it because it’s possible for onlookers to see this as a joke when tomorrow morning selling your home will still be a serious mission.

Take time considering the buyers point of view during this process but also take moments to enjoy what may be your last Halloween in your neighborhood! Following these tips may just put you ahead of your competitors.
