Billions of people are on social media... by Jan Sohlman

Dear friends,

Billions of people are on social media and Facebook is taking the internet by storm! The average American spends 39 minutes on Facebook every day. They also claim that this social forum is making people not spend as much time face to face. Time Magazine says that the average American spends 43 minutes a day face to face. This has advertisers in a flurry. They want to get their products out there and on social media.

Facebook headquarters in California are realising that Facebook has a  relatively new vision for how to keep users hooked on Facebook. They are asking themselves how to make us as Americans become more dependant on it.

Nearly a billion people around the world now look at Facebook daily. Facebook kicked their adverising and made a lot of changes in 2014.   They launched programs, the social network had already tuned the News Feed into a powerful engine, sucking up our time and pumping out ad revenue.  The company runs the second-most-popular website in the world & the most-used mobile app in the United States. Facebook generated $12.5 billion in revenue in 2014 per a Time Magazine article that I read this week.

Should we have a business page on Facebook? Should we invite all our friends and clients to like our page? Should we advertise our listings on Facebook........ duh! Yes!

Do you have any stories you would like to share on your business and it's success on Facebook? I would love to hear it.

All the best!

Social media...especially Facebook is a necessity, however, the bigger issue is time management...at least for me. (S)

I do have several fb business pages, but I try to avoid going on my personal page as it just sucks up too much time.

I try and walk the line of posting just enough to give my audience information to digest without being too overly present so they start to tune me out.

Thank you Nicole Doty, I think it is great to stay in front of your clients. Social media is a good start, but it is good to not over do it.

Les & Sarah Howard,

I have my assistant help out on my social media. That way I can use my time wisely on the bigger stuff. It is important to be in front of your clients and friends.
