This week's Animals of the MLS features the Three Amigos! Trapped behind bars these sad sacks weren't even able to get a sniff of the agent who was in their backyard domain. One pet is usually enough to keep home sellers on their toes but these guys look like they love to run and play together! I can only imagine what a handful they are when they take a ride in the family vehicle for a trip to the dog park. Maybe the home owner can hop on a skateboard or bicycle and have their own personal desert dog sled team!

Having this many animals when you're trying to sell your home can be taxing. A homeowner needs to make sure all dog toys and excrement are constantly picked up so that the home can be show ready at any moment. Also it's important to keep all visible pet hair and odors to an absolute minimum which isn't easy given the number of animals in this home. It can be a heavy burden but if you love pets and wish to sell your property it's simply a reality. 

As for the picture itself I'm not sure what exactly the agent is attempting to highlight other than the animals. You can't determine the size of the yard at all, there's an extremely overgrown bush that needs trimming, a bright yellow gardening hose which is a major distraction, and a rusted out sign hanging from the gate. There really is no redeeming quality about this photograph and why it was uploaded to the MLS is a tough question to figure out. The only purpose I can determine is that the homeowner or the listing agent wanted to specifically show to potential buyers that there are indeed animals at the property to ensure a proper showing appointment was made to view the home. If indeed that was the case, surely one could have at least had the sellers clean up around this specific area before taking a picture. Trim the vegetation, rake the rocks, pull the weeds, get rid of the hose, and take down that rusty old sign if you must take a picture of this area and the canine inhabitants.

Evelyn - Although I bet those three could bark up a pretty loud storm even behind those bars which could be a distraction to a buyer. 

Rob - One pet can be hard enough but with three the owners had their hands full.

Larry - Those are fairly large dogs though and I can see potential buyers still being uneasy.

David - There's no way I could handle three dogs.

Michael - This just shows there are so many little details a homeowner can follow to make their home show so much better. 

Conrad - Not if you want to sell the home. 

James - I've had listings that I took in which the homeowners did not remove the pets for showings and they simply do not sell as fast for the most part. 

Raymond - They are out of the way but some buyers may still be intimidated by the presence of all three. 

Fred - I'm guessing there were probably some considerably large holes dug around the property as well that will need to be filled in. 

Will - And a happy girl she is!

Nicole, you are right, except for evidence that there are indeed pets in the home, this is not a photo that should be included in the MLS

Nicole- I marvel at some of the shots included in the MLS. And yes, it would have been nice if the hose had been removed and the bushes trimmed.

Grant - The message is "we don't take very good care of our yard".

Kathy - I don't even mind the agent showing that there is a fenced in are for pets, just don't include the pets in the photo.

Lou - It certainly adds extra wrinkles.

Nicole, I have an indoor dog and a cat, they are more like my kids and get treated/loved as such. I am also very sensitive to odors(probably over sensitive), homes with pets don't need to smell like a pet hotel, there are ways to do so. You've given great tips to home sellers with pets!
