Whom are you Following?
Last week I wrote about what you were running from and where you are actually headed. This week the focus is on the people who are in you life. While we cannot choose our family members, we CAN choose whom we will allow to positively affect our lives.
The title above refering to "following" people can be a bit misleading these days. We now attribute the word to those we follow on social media. What I am referring to goes much deeper than simply clicking onto a button to say you want to "follow" a certain person. I am talking about assessing the people in your life who have an affect on you daily.
Perhaps you have some of those Negative Nellies, Energy Zapper Zane, Deflating Debbie or Tear-down Terry! You all know some of those right? I do as well and I have found that those are the people that I have had to make a conscious effort to not allow their "stuff" to ruin my day. Oh yes, it takes work!
None of us need more junk to muck up our lives. Remove it or learn to be immune to it. It is your decision how you deal with those who suck the life out of you.
I choose to "follow" positive, grateful, grounded, kind, supportive, helpful, genuine and fun individuals. These are the people who make me smile, who build me up and who give me a spring in my step. I am thankful to have them in my life.
Whom are you following is an important thing to determine. Assess those whom you need to not allow to rob you of your joy! Follow the leaders in your company, your neighborhood or acquaintances who really do care about you. Let go when you need to let go and seek those whom you need to seek out!
