Saturday Smiles: September Finds @The Santa Barbara Farmers Market!

In anticipation of a warm and humid day, it seemed like everyone was out early to shop at the Santa Barbara Farmers Market.  We were delighted to see tomatillos (pictured above), as it is a great addition to guacamole!

Pomegranates are ripe and ready.  They are beautiful and tasty, and we love them in salads.

I'm glad to see pomagranates coming into harvest.  I love 'em.  I can also picture those tomatillos makings some wonderful green chili sauce.

Pomegranetes and tomatilloes - I bet that there is a wonderful recipe that uses both but either way, they would look beautiful in a bowl on your countertop.  I think that Lottie Kendall must have a wonderful recipe!

Endre Barath, Jr. One of the Mexican restaurants chefs somewhere in our travels recommended making guacamole that way along with some finely diced onions.  It is really good that way...I do add tomatoes for color, small san marzano ones that TJ's carries.  By the way, if your TJ's has Joel Gott Cabernet, it is really good and balanced.  A

Our next door neighbor has a pomegranate tree, and he doesn't even like them, so we can eat them any time we like.
