For my first Million points I wrote I wrote those milestone posts, but for the second million the points were no longer something I care about. Someone is about to pass me and others will do so shortly there after. I don't care. I will be the 20th person out of more than a quarter of million people with profiles here to reach 2 Million points. Again, it's not important to me. But I would like to tell you a few things about my 7 years here that are very important to me.
I came here by accident because of a random email I got and I really can't even tell you why that broker emailed me. I've never done business with her and I'm not sure she had emailed me before or after and I have zero idea how she got my email address. But it was fate.
Right after finding ActiveRain I had a major issue with countrywide with an REO. I needed help and I reached out and someone gave me a contact that helped me. As it turned out Countrywide must have needed more help than me, they folded, I'm still here.
I didn't have a clue what SEO was and I didn't blog anywhere regularly before I blogged here. I had a site, it had a blog, I didn't know how to utilize it well. I learned here.
I hadn't been here very long when I got a listing that was a hot mess. It was a foreclosure and well I honestly thought no one would ever buy that house. I wrote a brutally honest blog post about that house. It had no kitchen and no master bedroom and bath. It was literally 2/3 of a house. And I had a ton of sympathy for the family that lived in that unfinished house as I negotiated cash for keys with them. Then I had zero sympathy when they abandoned their animals and I had to re-home them. I got a call from someone who read that honest blog. And while they thought it was funny that I was so honest about the house they actually wanted to see it. They bought that house. My journey has been that many more listings have sold in the past 8 years as a direct result of my blog posts.
I was prompted to do a video here once and I posted me taking my puppies for a walk. I walked by a listing in my neighborhood. A dog loving couple called me because they connected with me and they bought that house in my neighborhood. So my journey has included many buyers from my posts as well. And most of my listings have youtube videos now. Some with hundreds of views.
There are those here I am inspired by and learn from on a regular basis. Other brokers who have been inspirational in helping me strengthen my business plan, agents who inspire me to focus on branding, I've not only upgraded my camera three times in the past 8 years, but I've learned to take amazing photos if I say so myself.
And then there are the friends I've made here. Really true and wonderful friends. Even this past summer when I was on a weekend get a way I found our another rainer would be in that town that same weekend and we made time to spend together. I've met literally hundreds of members between raincamps, meetups and visits and my travels and I plan to add even more on my next vacation. That last photo is Thom Abbott visiting my office. Met him for the first time at raincamp. We hung out twice last month.
It's about the business, it's about the learning, it's about the friends and it's been a great journey so far and I look forward to meeting more of you. If you get by this way in Georgia make sure stop by, we always have a spot on the porch for you too.
