New hope for our loved pets

Services for Real Estate Pros with Springboro Veterinary Hospital

My wife is a Realtor, and we thought everyone should hear about this. This is my first Blog, I hope it is helpful.

I am Dr. Gary Beall D.V.M., practicing at Springboro Veterinary Hospital for the past 25 years. I have seen many new therapies developed, and Stem-Cell therapy is one of the most exciting.

We have all heard the moral & ethical debates regarding embryonic stem-cells, and this new therapy in veterinary medicine is NOT embryonic. We are using adult stem-cells. These adult-stem cells are cells taken from the fatty tissue of the adult animal, and they are injected back into that same animal. It has been shown that these fatty adult stem-cells have the ability to differentiate (change) into the cell types of the area they are injected into. Then these new cells will promote regeneration (healing) of damaged tissue, decrease inflammation, and therefore reduce pain.

Adult stem-cell therapy has been used for years in horses, with good results. Race horses that were retired due to injury have been able to resume racing after stem cell therapy. Recently we have seen similar results with pets. For testimonials and videos visit the website http://www.vet-stem.com/

The primary area of interest currently is osteoarthritis (joint inflammation). The procedure is a 3 day schedule. Day 1, the pet is scheduled for surgery to harvest the adult stem-cells from fatty tissue. This is a relatively minor surgery, where fatty tissue is taken just under the skin. The collected sample is packaged, picked up by Federal Express, and sent to the Vet-Stem lab in California. Day 2, the fatty tissue sample is processed and the stem-cells are extracted. They are loaded into a syringe and Federal Expressed back to the Veterinary Hospital. Day 3, the stem-cells are injected into the arthritic joint.

80% of cases show significant improvement with this procedure. A patient of mine, Rio, a Bernise Mountain dog, has elbow dysplasia. He is a certified working therapy dog, that had to stop working due to joint pain. His appetite decreased, he lost weight, and was lethargic. We tried several medications, and even did surgery, to no avail. After his stem-cell therapy, he is on no medication, back to work, eating, gaining weight, and has lots of energy. It is truly awesome to see him working, running and playing again.

If your pet suffers with arthritis, and you would like to try something besides medication or surgery, adult stem-cell therapy may be for you

We understand the FDA is looking into this treatment for humans...this would be great and may even prevent hip and knee replacements.
