As we move into Fall & Winter, Curb Appeal still counts. Staging in Burlington

It's time to put the garden to bed for the cold seasons ahead.

Do you just forget about Curb Appeal if you are selling your home?

The answer is No.

Curb appeal is always important. It is the first impression of your home. It's what gets the buyer out of the car. Curb appeal shows what kind of an owner you have been.

Curb appeal isn't just landscaping. It is also made up of the hard scape and the structure itself.

For good Fall curb appeal:

  1. Do any painting to the home that needs touching up. This shows the buyers you don't let things slide.
  2. Make sure the exterior lights and mail box are in good condition.
  3. Look at the walks and driveway. Sealing an asphalt drive can extend its life and appeal. If you have a inlaid stone work make sure it is level.
  4. Cut down the garden plants that have finished for the year.
  5. Add mulch to the beds to show they are well cared for.
  6. If your lawn is patchy dress it with top soil and seed. Show the buyer you care.
  7. You still need color, so add mums to your planters. Use gourds and pumpkins as well.
  8. Keep up the regular maintenance like lawn cutting and raking leaves.

Show the buyers that you are 'house proud', you have maintained your home. IF you take care of the outside of the home, chances are the interior is well maintained as well.

What message is your home sending to buyers?

The last thing you want buyers thinking is that the home has been poorly maintained.  Great advice for serious sellers!

Janice,

Curb appeal is always important regardless of the season...when we bought our first home, we often did not want to go in because of the curb appeal.  A

Ron and Alexandra Seigel so true! If the house looks neglected why would you think the interior is any different?

Janice- you are so right with this one.  Sellers often forget their mailboxes so I'm glad you mentioned it.

I can see the challenge being much greater during the fall where the weather is so cold!  Still, curb appeal is important wherever and whenever one is selling!  Go Blue Jays1

Hi, this is one of the most important factors of selling a home is to ensure that the house has curb appeal.

It's what gets the buyer out of the car Sana Solanki . It's the first subliminal message that your house will send.
