In 1986 I moved into a house in Kenilworth, IL with a blue/red wool plaid rug. I hated it. Now, I would just rip it out but then the budget was tight and I was told it was a quality rug. But nothing matched it and I always felt disoriented when I walked into that room.

Bold plaid designs as background walls for baby rooms, a row of dining room chairs upholstered in different patterns of plaid yet in the same color scheme. Or just as accent pillows on current furniture.
These beautiful chairs (right) are a great play on traditional use of plaid with their differing patterns - I love that!
This lampshade has a fresh and innovate plaid design as used with a white lamp base.
No problem pairing classic plaid with other designs
Another bold idea using a variety of plaid schemes on one piece of furniture
