Things to Do in Baton Rouge for Halloween
Baton Rouge is one of the liveliest cities in the state of Louisiana, so it should come as no surprise to learn that it is home to numerous Halloween events and activities. As a result, whether you are searching for some fun and excitement or something more along the lines of good, old-fashioned family fun, you are sure to find something suitable in the spookiest time of the year.
Here are some examples of the Halloween events and activities that can be found in Baton Rouge during the fall season.
Baton Rouge Halloween Parade
Like its name suggests, the Baton Rouge Halloween Parade will see a succession of Baton Rouge based non-profits and other organizations seeking to wow the crowd with their floats and marches. The parade is scheduled for 2:00 PM on October 31, 2015.
The parade will start at St. Philip and Government Street before following a winding route that will end at Laurel Street and River Road. This means that there will be plentiful space for interested individuals hoping to catch the show. There is no cost to view the parade, but residents are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food items for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
This year, the Baton Rouge Halloween Parade's theme is: "It's Halloween, Witches!" This is the perfect theme for those who might want to get out their robes, conical hats, and be a witch for the day!
Costume Parties and Social Events
For people who love to wear costumes, there will be plentiful opportunities for them to socialize with like-minded individuals while dressed up as their favorite characters. There are several social events happening this year, with or without costumes involved.
Ghostly Gala will be held on October 10th and October 11th at De La Rounde Hall. The 3rd Annual Ghostly Gala is a masquerade ball planned by 10/31 Consortium, which is the same non-profit organization behind the Baton Rouge Halloween Parade.
Participants can expect great food, music, and dancing. Events such as the costume contest and the table decorating contest are sure to make the night an adventure. Guests are strongly encouraged to dress up for the occasion, though they can also get away with cocktail attire so long as they are being sufficiently creative with their choices.
Members of the 10/31 Consortium can get single-person tickets for around $75 or a table that seats ten for around $750 Non-members can expect to pay around $85 for a single ticket or around $850 for a table that seats ten. Those who want to make the most of the experience should expect to stay from 8:00 PM to 12:00 AM, though they might also be interested in the after-party at the Roux House, which will be held between 12:00 AM and 2:00 AM.
The Halloween Opera Ball will be held between the hours of 6:30 PM and 10:00 PM at City Club on Friday, October 23th. City Club is located at 355 North Blvd. The event is hosted by Baton Rouge's opera company, Opera Louisiane, so expect inspiring music and excellent dancing. Better still, participants should expect a superb selection of spirits plus treats to excite the senses.
Tickets for one person are around $150. Tickets for couples are around $275. The proceeds from these sales, along with the proceeds from the silent auction, will be used to support Opera Louisiane throughout the year.
