SPEED NETWORKING CAN RE ENERGIZE YOUR NETWORK

I never liked the idea of speed networking. But I have changed my mind. I believe networking is about relationship building and I always wondered how that can be done with speed networking. It can't by itself. However, speed networking can fill your funnel quickly.

Yesterday, I attended a speed networking event at the Business Council of Westchester. I talked with 10 people in 30 minutes and then everyone went into the next room for some lunch.

Aside from getting a sore throat I found it to be a very productive session. That is because I developed a strategy before I went in. Exchange information on our differentiators and what we are looking to get out of this session. That was very productive and I have identified 4 people that I feel could be strategic partners.

I am following up with those 4 an scheduling a one to on meeting. The day was productive.

I've heard of speed dating, but not speed networking. I guess that would work in a large room of people. It sounds to me like it's kind of like going to a convention where the vendors all want to sell you their product, and they have to be quick in their presentation so they can capture you and move on to the next person with their presentation.
