Chronicle of a Stager

By
Home Stager with D F Campbell Ventures Group Inc.

Yesterday, Shelley (Organizing Queen)and I staged a property here in St. Albert. The Realtors we do a number of stagings for described this house as "different". Not knowing what to expect, we go in expecting anything. As some background, we have seen MANY DIFFERENT houses and after 5 years we have lost any sense of judgement and just go in and make it look as best as we can.

The Realtors contract us to do up to 4 hours of Staging on most of their listings, and we have such a wonderful relationship built with them that they know we'll be in there only for as long as we have to. Some jobs have only taken an hour so that's all we bill for - 1 hour.

On this particular occasion, the house was a bungalow with a very open concept and the way it was finished it had a real urban loft like quality to it. The challenge we encountered was although this couple was young, hip and very chic, they were major pack rats. Both are archaeologists and they liked OLD stuff - claw foot tubs, dinosaur bones and fossils, cameras, books, chairs, and Vespas! Ooooh, I was coveting that Vespa.

Vespa

But I digress.

With a time crunch on our hands - the Realtors were coming over that evening to take pictures for the on-line listing and putting the sign in the ground - we moved quickly. We packed boxes, moved furniture, cleaned and swept, packed more boxes - are there any more boxes?? We need to pack some more stuff.

Everything was brought into a storage area in the basement - well contained and unfinished so perfect for storage. What was missing? Something was definitely missing. My Camera!!!

When we arrived it was in a genuine state of disarray. When we left (can you hear the angels singing??) it had that MAJOR WOW FACTOR!! I just wish I had the proof.

Always Bring Camera.  ABCs of staging, right?  LOL!  Glad to hear you have great relationships with your agents!

Go back and get photo's I am sure the sellers wouldn't mind if so go to an open house.  Better yet ask the Realtors that you have the great relationship with to send you some of their shots.
