October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month

There are always plenty of reasons to adopt a pet and it's proven that animals are way more than just furry friends but companions that help us to be more caring human beings.

This month is a great month to find a friend - either cat or dog - but it just happens that October is devoted to Shelter DOGS!

Palmetto Animal League We are so fortunate to have several wonderful, caring, committed, organizations that take in and care for dogs that are injured or abandoned and with small budgets they bring these beautiful creatures back to life - no longer broken Vader but happy and loved.

Beaufort County Animal Control

The cuties above are a small selection of all the friendly faces you'll see at the shelter.

Here are just some of the organizations in our area - I'm sure that there are plenty of shelters where you live too!

This is a reminder. We finally get a lite rain after 8 months of drought.

I will get the dry towels, litter absorbent, and a check ready to bring them to our animal shelter. There is a nuturing place also. So dirty and cash starving...

We have 6 adoptees now. And we regularly drop off newspapers and toys and towels and blankets at our local shelter.

Tammy - I have to almost just run in as fast as I can with donations and toys otherwise I'd end up with the same number of adoptees that you have! I forgot about the towels and blankies though! I'll add that to my list.

OH, Susan, almost didn't click on this, because inevitably there is a part of me that wants to save the dogs of the world and knowing that I can't, I become somewhat sad...but I sure loved the photos and how upbeat you were about it! All dogs are darlings in my book. Well, all CREATURES BIG AND SMALL.

Gayle - I totally agree with you - I used to do the Dog Walk on Coligny Beach but I was heartbroken when I had to pick up the dog and then bring it back - I just can't see those sad eyes and the stories of how mean people are just make me crazy soooooo $$$ and toys it is for me.

You're soooo ciose to the MILLION mark - I'll watch for the announcement :-)
