October is Arts month in the Pikes Peak Region which coincides with the nationally recognized Arts and Humanities Month. COPPer or Cultural Offices of the Pike Peak Region annually orchestrates a month full of free and low cost artistic events, classes, and experiences available to the community. COPPeR states, "The initiative was designed to raise awareness for the area’s creative community and showcase the many exciting arts & cultural events taking place in the area for the month of October."

This year, the month will be broken up into four themes for each week beginning October 4th. Week one will highlight theater and film. Week two is focused on the visual arts. Week three emphasizes music and dance. Last but not least, week four will be poetry, pose and comedy to take center stage. Peak Radar's website will have a detailed calendar of events with details for the entire month for all arts and cultural programming. There are several free events throughout October, including the Colorado Springs Cheyenne Mountain Library which is hosting a FREE month long Digital Photography as Art & Play' workshop. Described as a "unique Library class that helps participants learn the basics of digital photography and progress to producing a professional exhibit of their art & play." The First Friday Art Walk Downtown, An Afternoon of Poetry and a Fall Concert are a few more of free to little cost events.

With something going on nearly everyday, this is just a sample of whats to come. Be sure to visit the links above for more information and on classes, galleries, and performances for October.
