Longmont Colorado is an amazing place to live, work and raise a family. Longmont is located in Boulder CountyColorado. It sits just east of the base of the foothills and boasts marvelous views of the front range mountains. Longmont is located 16 miles northeast of Boulder and 37 miles northwest of Denver with easy commutes to both. Longmont is named for Major Stephen H. Long, who in 1820 led an expedition to the area. Later, in 1871, a group from Chicago came to the area as the Chicago-Colorado Colony to set up the town we now know as Longmont. The area has a rich history of farming and agriculture.
Longmont and Boulder County are host to several large companies such as IBM, Seagate Technology, Ball Aerospace, Celestial Seasonings and CaseLogicto name a few. Longmont is an easy 15 minute commute to Boulder, the home of the University of Colorado.
The City of Longmont offers wonderful services for its residents. Longmont's utilities are included on one bill making it easy to take care of electric, water, wastewater, trash and recycling. Longmont Power & Communications offers an environmentally friendly alternative in wind energy and residents may choose to receive a portion or all of their electricity from this source.
The Parks and Recreation Departmentoffers recreation at several facilities including the new Longmont Recreation Center, the Longmont Museum, Senior Center, Centennial Indoor Pool, Sunset Outdoor Pool, Kanemoto Activity Pool, Roosevelt Activity Pool, Union Resevoir, several amazing golf courses and the newest addition - the Longmont Ice Pavillion.
In 2006, Longmont was designated a winner of the prestigious "All-America City" award.
