Finally Found the Front Door, and the Unwelcome Mat

Finally Found the Front Door, and the Unwelcome Mat.

After decades of working in the forests around the Huron Mountain Club and hearing stories about the rich and famous owners of this Huge chunk of Michigan wilderness I finally got around to taking a drive around to the real entrance to their property.

I was hoping to see what the civilized side of the property looks like, the side that I have seen is rather remote, and maybe even have a conversation with a few of the owners.

The drive to the front door was not too bad, once you get out to Big Bay, it is all nice new county highway leading right up to their front gate.

Unfortunately they did not know that I was coming.

There was no red carpet and welcoming committee.

Just a locked gate, guard and a sign letting me know that I was not that welcome in this private part of the world.

Hi Bob... that's a good picture, though. And look, you got a blog out of this exercise!

Wow, that's creepy, Bob. Did you see any signs of life at all? I don't even want to tell you where my imagination is going with this...

And a guard!   Now that is exclusive...Sounds like a boring job but I guess it is a job.   Something tells me they would have told you yoiu didn't kow jack!

Bob the locked gate was obviously a mistake, so you should have strapped on your sneakers, and just leaped over it :)

Bob,  - it is a cool looking building though - but kind of a disappointment after wondering about it for so many years.

Hopefully they will be clients someday and the guy in the guard house will allow me to pass by as we work hard to keep their amazing forest growing strong and healthy.

Oh, my curiosity leaps when I see a locked gate and a road with a bend in it. What a great picture.
