Disneyland Raises Annual Pass Prices

Disneyland

The Force has been strong at Disneyland lately with the announcement of a new Star Wars' Land and the 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration this year.  As much fun and excitement as this has all generated, it has also resulted in yet another increase in Disney's annual passes.

California Adventure

Disneyland has just announced that it will no longer have a premium pass with no blockout dates.  Instead, there will now be a Disney Signature Plus pass with a price tage of $1,049.  It will also include parking and unlimited downloads of the Disney Photo Pass for pictures taken at Disneyland and California Adventure.  The Disney Signature Pass will be available for $849.  It appears that this pass will have blockout dates for the two weeks around Christmas.

The Deluxe Pass will now be $599, an increase of $50.  The Southern California Select pass is now $329, up from $299, and the Southern California pass is now $459, up from $389.  This last pass is only available for renewal and cannot otherwise be purchased.

Disney says this is an attempt to deal with crowds as annual passes are up 250% since 2001.  Having had a pass since 1998, I will say that Disneyland is far more crowded than it was 17 years ago when we first purchased our passes.

Will this effect people's decision to purchase annual passes?  We'll have to see especially with the new excitement generated by the recent Star War's Land news.

Christine,

Still a great value if you go very often. Not as good as free, which I used to have when I worked at DL.

Christine, I have been to Disney Land twice in 18 + years, clearly this would not be beneficial for me:)) on a side note how does an average lower middle class family afford this? just thinking out loud, Endre

Endre Barath, Jr.  - I have to admit to being a Disneyphile. I don't know how some would make it work.  For us, it is a good chunk of our entertainment budget, and we spend a lot of time there.

Christine Donovan Never a Disney Fan and having dealt with them in business for many years supplying laboratory equipment to them in Orlando and waiting forever to be paid; I hope people stop buying these over-priced passes. Families need to spend more time in reality at the beach, seeing historic sites, etc. The Little Mermaid is passe.

Sandy Padula and Norm Padula, JD, GRI  -  I can understand your frustration, and I think visiting other places is important too.  That said, we do enjoy our family time there.
