Edgar
Thanks for stopping by and taking time out of your day to read my post. My intent is to put a smile on your face. Hopefully you’ll go away with some information you may have forgotten about or did not know. Now sit back and enjoy the post for the day.
Edgar was born in Canton, Illinois back in 1861. Hardly nothing is written about his childhood so I can’t tell you what or where he went to school, what his likes or dislikes were. What I can tell you about him is that he and his brother Frank were bicycle makers in Washington D.C. He was responsible for the design but however it was his brother Frank who actually designed the invention. So long before the history was written can you tell me what Frank Duryea invented? Also can you tell me the other accomplishment that Frank is noted for?
Well let me tell you the rest of the story. While Edgar or should I say Charles Duryea claimed to have invented the first motorized vehicle it was his brother Frank who actually is credited for the first motorized vehicle. It was a one-cylinder, four horsepower, and tiller-steered car with a water-cooled gas engine, a buggy body, and metal oak-spoked wheels turned by a bicycle chain. The other accomplishment by Franks was that he was the first person ever to win a motorized car race in 1895. They are noted to be the first American company to manufacture more than one automobile at a time, building thirteen in 1896.
