Where Did All the Sacramento Listings Go?

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Gold DRE #00697006

The housing market in Sacramento has taken a swing in October that is very unusual for this time of year. Last October, we had 3,397 listings for sale and today it's down to 2,773, but the really unusual numbers are the sold homes to date as compared to this same period last month. There is a 75% difference.

I've never seen anything like it that I can recall offhand, and I've been in the real estate business since 1974, more than 41 years. I recall the super high interest rates of the late 1970s and then the market crash in 2006, but this situation is fairly peculiar.

One thing that is for certain and that is it's a good time to sell a home Sacramento. I don't know if it can get any better for sellers in Sacramento who want to sell and then buy a home because they can call all of the shots. Providing that they hire an agent like this Sacramento Realtor who knows how to navigate in this type of real estate market.

You can read more in my personal blog today at this link: Why October is a Good Month for the Sacramento Housing Market.

Elizabeth, reading this suggests the Sacramento real estate market is drying up like our Bay Area Market has been for some time now.  It is a rough go for buyers and buyers agent in a market like that. It tends to bring out the worst in people (yes, I mean agents who behave badly.)

Fall is a great time of year to sell here too.  I love it!  Sounds like supply is really very sparse in Sacramento, but buyer demand is still high.

Good morning Elizabeth.  Less than 10 homes on the market?  Sounds like you better get up and get out trying to get some more listings......

Hi Elizabeth.  Less then 2 month's inventory is very scary.  Good luck #7.
