6 Things You Could Do Tonight While ActiveRain is Down: The Sequel

Services for Real Estate Pros with ActiveRain Corp.

On Thursday evening October 15th, from 6pm to 9pm Pacific Time (or 9pm to 12am Eastern Time) ActiveRain will be down for maintenance. This is a planned outage and downtime to allow our developers to do what they do, make things better.

(No you aren't having deja vu, this same thing happened last week and is happening again tonight)

The bulk of this work will be underlying stuff that won't make much of a difference in your daily life on ActiveRain, but will make the program more stable.

So while you won't be able to access the site during this time, we wanted to give you some alternative options for things to do. Here they are in no particular order........

1. Get better at blogging for leads and business.

How? Check out our blogging blueprint series on Youtube. There are 12 different video covering a variety of the types of posts we suggest you write on your blog if your aim is to generate business. In each video, we show you exactly how to create that type of post. We cover market reports, condo complex posts, subdivision posts, community event posts and a few others. Great stuff to improve your business blogging.

2. Check out TheBrokeAgent.com.

This person is FUNNY. It's a real estate agent who shares some of the humorous side of being a real estate agent. Warning, at times it can offend, so if you are easily offended, I would skip this one. You can also follow them on Twitter and Instragram (that's where I see most of his stuff). If you don't take yourself too seriously, this is one of the best follows in real estate. If you take yourself too seriously.......you should probably follow him any ways and lighten up! :-)

3. Turn off the computer

and spend some time with someone you love (or even someone that you mildly can stand). Did you know that technology is actually changing our brains? Some of the ways are for good, but some are definitely not. So get away from your computer for a little bit and just relax.

4. Learn about KWKLY

the Text-To-Lead service that is owned by ActiveRain. You can text the word: mobile to 59559 and we'll send you back some info about the service. The short of it is that you can put a sign rider up on your listing, and someone can text a code (you pick the code) to a number and they get instant info back to their cell phone including price, beds, baths, Sq ft, and pictures, as well as a link to get more info. We send info based on the GPS of their phone. As the agent, you get the person's phone number who is standing in front of your listing requesting info. It allows you to stop using flyers....and we all know all real estate flyers are made from baby trees. Stop killing baby trees!

5. Write a letter to congress

telling them how you feel about some particular issue. Doesn't matter what the issue is, or what your views on it are, let those views be known! That's the great part about living in the US, we can all have different opinions, but it's important that we let our elected officials know how we feel. Increasingly people feel alienated by the process. We don't have to. We can actually have an impact. Maybe take the time to teach your child or grandchild how to write a letter to congress. Here's a great guide of how to do that. 1000 points for everyone that does this. We'll do it on your honor. Just email support@activerain.com and let us know that which congressperson you wrote.

6. Clean out your email

.........and by clean out, I mean just delete it all and start over! (or am I the only one that feels that way sometimes?)

Hope you find some way to spend these three hours that we'll be down. Could be shorter they tell me, but we'll plan for the worst.

I write my congressman about twice a week and my Senators about once a week and have for the past 18 years since I could do it by email. And I'll be super good with going to bed early for a change as it will be midnight here.  Just have her up and running by the time I get up please.

These are great suggestions. But, as it's 9pm EST I think I'll opt for sleep and/or talking to my bf.

But, I may follow up some on these another time.

ActiveRain management should seriously consider taking the site down for maintenance purposes when it is a quieter time of the night, say midnight to 3 am Pactific Time (3 am to 6 am Eastern time) when a large majority of users (i.e. potential and current customers / clients of ActiveRain members) are sleeping.

Didn't Nostradamus predict the end of the world for Thursday night at 1800 Pacific?  Now we know why!  Guess I'll be choosing between the two sports restaurants/bars by my house for the Thursday Night Football game.  Colts at Texans, but no Luck!  Guess Texans it is!

Do you mind if we spend some portion of the time sleeping?

Great list, and more than I can accomplish in three hours, but it is a smorgesboard of choice.

Rather than spending time trying to get out of control politicians to do the right thing,  I thinks I will request one well placed Thunderbolt from on High in an open area along Pennsylvania Ave.  I figure HE is even more exasperated with that reckless resouvoir of ruinous representation.  I thiink a bit of comedy is in line for that time.

I sure wish you would resurrect my SpiritualRain group tonight while you are doing the others behind the scenes. It got deleted about the time the new guys took over and it has disappeared now for about 2 months or so. I had lots of members and sure would like to get it back. I have turned this in to tech support a couple of times already.

I think, ActiveRain: Keeping You In The Loop!  you need to edit your post to put Thursday, October 15th in red, and in larger font.

You might mention it again at the end of your post, as an extra reminder.  Lots of people seem to think this was something happening right away.

Thanks for being super-proactive!
