Buying or Selling a Home While Divorcing in Sacramento

Working with divorcing couples, even if only one of them seems to be my client, means representing both individuals if both are on title. That's the thing that some agents forget because they meet with one spouse, sign the paperwork, discuss the terms of sale, the marketing, all of that stuff, while the other spouse might be in the dark. Just because that other spouse is not in the picture doesn't mean a listing agent doesn't represent that person. It can be difficult and a challenge to represent both parties, but an experienced Sacramento Realtor can handle it.

It's a little bit different when it's the buyer who is in the throes of divorce and trying to buy a home in Sacramento. In that kind of situation, a Sacramento Realtor represents only the buyer, not the other spouse. However, if the other spouse is vindictive or angry, it can cause a dilemma. While I have worked with a number of divorcing couples over the years, I have rarely worked with divorcing buyers looking to purchase a home.

As for the divorcing sellers, I've had the gamut of fairly amicable, to those who you couldn't get together in the same room.
