Research is a good thing.

Within the last few months we have changed our blog writing strategy to the 2,000 plus (in actuality they've been closer to 3,000 words) word count blogs.  Not as many but days of research being put into the once a week longer posts.

Much to our amazement

they did no better than the 300 word count posts.

Revisiting the past and looking at the shelf life of older blogs is a good thing. We have now learned to not necessarily jump on every new theory on how the Google gods are changing this that or the other.  Unless of course the word comes from that Nigerian Prince with the $200,000,000 he wants to invest.  Starting to believe more and more in the Prince and less and less in all of the "experts".

There are times when quite possibly, the original still tastes (works) great!!!!!

That's great you were able to track your results. I wonder if age of a blog post has anything to do with how well it ranks on google? In other words, the older the post the better it does.

Hi Chris & Dick - It was interesting watching you do that, and I was hoping you'd share the results. And whether or not Google liked them better, they were very well done posts, with plenty of valuable information. They will be appreciated by interested readers.

I was wondering if the longer posts would make a difference. Thank you for sharing what you found out!

Chris and Dick Dovorany "they did no better than the 300 word count posts."  not sure that surprises me - I remember Brian Brady long ago advising me that short and sweet would get greater readership than lengthy posts.

Thanks for sharing your results, Chris and Dick.  I was wondering if longer or shorter posts were more effective.

Looking at your track record is very smart and watching the future ones too. I know you have put lots of work into those long posts. Though Google may like them I just don't think the public does. So many people can't focus long enough to read a really long post.

Good morning Chris and Dick Dovorany. If size matters, I decided long ago, that shorter is better. I have asked many who contact me after reading one of my blogs, so often the comment was "short and to the point".

Thank you for sharing the information.

Make it a great week!

I think you can only give that a fair comparison if you wait as long to judge it as the 300 word posts. I have not heard any "expert" say you would get more business from the new longer posts, just that google would rank you higher, which in turn would get you new business. Or something like that...

I wonder how those longer posts are now fairing. Has there been any improvement on the clicks and views?
