Jump start your day without hesitation. Get up off your feet and spring to action! Why not jump at the chance of opportunities as quickly as you can rather than wait and methodically think about it for the it could be gone before you finish thinking!

This child mesmerized me at the Dallas Arboretum yesterday. All he did was jump off the rock. I could tell he was happy, having the time of his life. We were designed to move, have fun, and try new things. Trying and succeeding is liberating! I was motivated by his actions. If I could have traded places, I would!

What would get you motivated to jump off your rock today? We were created to achieve and keep moving. There were many babies and children at the Arboretum enjoying the warmer weather here in Dallas, Texas. All were moving, babies in buggies thrashing their arms around, kids running ahead of parents, skipping and jumping - they were moving! In the process of moving they were discovering and embracing life to the fullest. In other words, kids were being themselves and they brought joy into my life. Kids are a symbol of hope!

The longer I watched the kid jump over the rock the more confidence I saw in him. He was developing strength, courage, improvement, and he was hitting his mark! As an observer, even though it may have looked like a contest, he was the only contestant and he was winning! This child was in pursuit of his dreams and for just this one moment in time he didn't miss. Vicariously, I was too! Sometimes, you just have to let go and see what happens.

Patricia, you're right sometimes you just have to let go and see what happens. Life starts when we step out of our comfort zone. I really needed to read your post this morning, thank you so much for sharing.

Patricia,  If every adult lived in their hearts like a child ... no fear, no hesitation, no judgment, etc. our lives would be so enriched and the world would be much better place.

Thanks, Patricia.... we all need to take that attitude of a small child, and "make that jump"!!   As we grow older, our EGO tends to build momentum, and take over our behavior.  YES... EGO.  When you fear failure, fear rejection, fear that extra call to make... that is OUR EGO stepping in and making you feel that you are above such silly activity that might hurt your feelings.  Get out of the way!!

Kathleen Daniels - Now that's the perfect way to look at life.

As you can tell, I was up late in the wee hours of the night. I wrote this post; then I went to sleep. I had an odd dream about sitting on a couch talking to Kimo Stowell from ActiveRain. We were talking about our blogs when I got up to go somewhere in my dream and the next thing I knew, my Godfather (Mother's oldest brother) was sitting on the couch between me and Kimo. When I got back to the couch, Kimo was talking to my uncle (who has been dead for a long, long time). I tried to explain discreetly to Kimo that my Uncle was not in his right mind (because he was Special). But Kimo didn't flinch. He was engrossed in perfect conversation with my uncle and then Kimo started talking to me as if he was a Professor of Knowledge. Then I woke up!

Now, I read your post and I think you summed it up just perfectly!

The next time my astrally projected self keeps you up at night, just  give him a nod and a wink and he'll vanish. My great uncle was born prematurely at a time when premature babies never survived, his crib was a cotton lined shoe box and he could sit in my grandmothers doll furniture. He eventually grew into adulthood, served in the military, and suffered from a number of ailments as a result of his premature birth and resultant life challenges. Regardless, I was very found of him, he was extremely well read, despite his learning disabilities, and I enjoyed his considerable literary knowledge. I didn't particularly appreciate how certain family members would patronize him but he was above it, and that made their condescension tolerable. He dressed like a gentleman, smoked a pipe, and his room was filled with many interesting books, my fondest childhood memories involved hanging out with my grandmother ,great grandmother, and great uncle Robert.

Dan Hopper - Ah Ha!!! What you say is TRUE! It's no different than eating wrong food and developing plaque on the heart or the teeth! Ego, like plaque will get you into trouble everytime and it creeps up slowly. When it gets you, it's usually too late because something happens. A warning is an opportunity to make changes.

Thanks Dan!!!

Thanks Anna Banana Kruchten - That little guy was an inspiration to me. I always enjoy taking photographs and when I have a chance to view the photos, I always seem to get a message about what to write! If only I knew back then when I was a kid what I know today...

It's true Grant Schneider - we only have one life to live, so we better jump to it. If we're not really living the way we want to be living, then we better take action! Kids can teach more to adults through non-verbal communication... adults just have to pay attention. As they say, when the pupil is ready, the student will learn! Nobody says you have to be an Adult to be the teacher!!!

Patricia,

What lovely thoughts for this Monday.  I loved the message and the picture.  And there is no better feeling than discovering an ability the first time, and then doing it over and over again.  That first jump is a stepping stone to one's dream.

Wishing you a great week!  A
