We are Capable of Producing Quality, Why do so Many Companies Refuse to do so?
I was sitting in camp a few days ago doing some office work and a few camp chores when I chanced to reflect on my oldest lawn chair.
I bought this lawn chair decades ago when this style of chair first came out and amazingly it is still doing the job, still comfortable, and impressing me with it’s longevity.
We buy several of this style of chair every year knowing that most will not last more than a few months, why they wear out so quickly I am not sure.
Why start out with an excellent chair and then proceed to improve on this by making a steadily crappier chair with each new model?
Maybe I should start sending this photo to the chair companies so that they can remember what it was like to produce a good one.
It kind of reminds me of my phone, an “AT&T crappy as we can get” style phone which seems to be determined to unimpress me at every turn.
Why did AT&T buy out my old phone company, probably the best in the land (Alltel) and then proceed to tear it down rather than use the great resources and technology that Alltel had produced?
We can produce Quality in America, why the refusal to do so?
