The Evergreen Dam plays a central role in a number of activities that Evergreen offers to both its local residents and worldly visitors. Originally left out of preliminary construction plans for Dedisse Park in 1914, the Evergreen Dam was later proposed by Charles Vail, the city of Denver’s manager of improvements, in 1926 and has been a mecca of outdoor activities in Evergreen ever since its completion in 1928. The dam and lake in Evergreen, Colorado continue to be a draw for fisherman, boaters, and ice skaters alike. The Evergreen Lake proudly boasts its title as the “Crown Jewel” of Denver’s Mountain Parks and continues to be a highly-trafficked hiking area year after year. The Evergreen Lake even hosts the famous Polar Plunge annually for those crazy residents and visitors that like to start the New Year right and jump into the frozen lake in the dead of a Colorado winter. In the summer, the Lake hosts a concert series that brings locals and visitors out to enjoy Evergreen, Colorado and provides the most beautiful backdrop as “the perfect mirror” of Colorado mountain parks. Whatever season we’re in, the Lake has adventure to offer to all of its visitors.
