History of a Painting - Red Covered Bridges (Set of 4)
Every year about this time, Parke County, Indiana is flooded with people during the week long, Parke County Covered Bridge Festival. For several years, I participated in the festival, as I exhibited on the Courthouse lawn in Rockville, Indiana. Excitement covers the communities of Rockville, Bridgeton, Rosedale, Mecca and Mansfield as hundreds of vendors are scattered around the County.
There are 31 Covered Bridges in Parke County, most of them Red, with White ends to assist in vision. It is also known as the "Covered Bridge Capital of the World". During the Covered Bridge Festival, always held, starting on the 2nd Friday, in October, and covers 2 weekends during the 10 day period.
Indiana's largest festival even has tours of the bridge locations, as well as buses available, for transportation to the various communities. Many activities are offered throughout the County, such as the Art Gallery, a live stage play and plenty of food in Rockville, to the large variety of stores, arts and crafts, as well as Bar-B-Que and other food specialties scattered across Parke County, located near the Illinois-Indiana boarder in Central Indiana.

I exhibited my paintings and prints of the Covered Bridges,
as well as the sets for sale during the festival.
If you ever have a chance to explore Parke County's Covered Bridges and the Festival, I would recommend spending a couple days in the area.
