Fall is still around the corner for us in Austin as our summer temperatures are still prevailing. Why not take a ride this weekend to just west of Austin by Lake Travis and enjoy a wonderful meal in a quiet hill country setting in an old farmhouse. Some say that Hudson’s on the Bend is the most romantic restaurant in Austin. Located in a restored rock ranch house, this restaurant features beautiful herbs, vegetable and flower gardens along with al-fresco dining on the patio or the Garden Gazebo. Owner/chef Jeff Blank has named his menu “Texas Hill Country Cuisine".
Wild game is smoked in the rock smokehouse or grilled over pecan wood. Seafood is featured on a regular basis in this award winning kitchen with its creative sauces. Here is some of what you’ll find on their menu: From Small Bites: try the Coca Cola Baby Back Ribs with orange ginger BBQ sauce and carrot jicama slaw or some Barbecue Wild Boar Quesadilla with sharp cheddar, Chihuahua cheese, avocado and red onion marmalade. The Bigger Bites menu has Grilled Neiman Ranch pork chop with red eye gravy over braised cabbage and green chili mashed potatoes or the Herb Horseradish Crusted Salmon paired with black truffle gnocchi and baby spinach in a fresh mushroom broth.
Do you like to have something sweet to finish off the evening? How about Honey Roasted Peanut Butter Pie in a chocolate crust topped with bittersweet chocolate ganache, or Smoked Pumpkin Crème Brulee or Rose Scented Vanilla Cheesecake? Whatever you decide, it’s a great way to finish off a fabulous evening.
