Seed Planning #2016

Every October, I begin planning for the upcoming year. It's a time to reflect on the year and to look forward for what's to come. I call this activity  Seed Planning rather than Business Planning. I've always considered myself/ my business as casting seeds.

1 Corinthians 3:6: "I planted, Appollos watered but God made it grow". As a farmer, I can only do all I can but how they fall or bloom depends on God.

Over the years, I've tweaked the topics to what's important to me/ us, rather than following the tradition Business Plan.

The topics I include in Seed Planning:

  • The Year that Has Been: (List of Business transactions - by month, $ Volume and Sources). How much goes to Taxes, how much goes to Tithe and how much goes to personal savings.
  • Things We Did Well (and will continue to do):
  • Things We Can Improve On/ Projects to discard:
  • Review/ Modification(s) to Qualities of Ideal Clientel: We have a list of qualities to describe our ideal clients. When a wrong one shows up, we know "we" arent a good fit. A long time ago, we realized we don't need to/ cant do business with everyone.

  • Scripture for the Year #2016: Every year, we pray for a scripture.
  • Prayers/ Thoughts for the Year #2016:
  • List of Project Goals:
  • Marketing Plan #2016 (with Budget):
  • Blogging Plan #2016:

I hope you find this helpful as well.

Very helpful - thank you for sharing.  I like the idea of planting seeds, it is a useful analogy for a successful plan.

Thanks for sharing your "acitivity" to prepare for 2016, Loreena!   You are so correct in taking steps, NOW, to dominate that market with your brand!

The biggest problem with my planning...is I don't stick to it.

Hey, very nice site. I came across this on Google, and I am stoked that I did. I will definitely be coming back here more often. Wish I could add to the conversation and bring a bit more to the table, but am just taking in as much info as I can at the moment. Thanks for sharing.
