How to Keep Visitors on Your Website Longer

By
Real Estate Technology with Real Estate Technology and Marketing

The first thing agents often focus on is how many people are visiting their website. But the second most important question agents should ask is how long visitors are staying on their site. What visitors see on your site within the first 10-20 seconds determines whether or not they will click away. In that first 10 seconds, you must attract and maintain the attention of visitors through interesting content, videos, statistics and internal links.

Content: Keep it fresh. Keep it simple. Make sure to consistently update new articles and blog posts that are relevant to market or community changes in your housing area. Have a sleek, easy to navigate design free of clutter. Install a plug-in, such as YARPP, with “related posts” running on the bottom of a post. Visitors can read posts of related topics, stay on your site longer, and come to trust what you have to offer.

Add Videos: According to Forrester Study, “pages with video are 53 times more likely to rank on the first page of Google search results”. That means opportunity for greater site traffic and lead conversions. Google prioritizes quality content, therefore, including a short 3 minutes informational video not only engages more clients but also assist the SEO process.

Add Statistics: 99% of people will be more impressed by an article with statistics. Impressed yet? The 99% maybe for illustrative purposes but the point holds true. People trust statistics and they will remember them more. Spend that extra time to do a little research and make your articles interesting.

Internal Links: Internal linking is a great way to stimulate your SEO efforts as it helps search engines to crawl and index all the pages of your website. It is another way to make it easier for visitors to read other related posts.

How can we be of service

I have never thought of using internal links as a tool. I had focused on back links instead.
