Nick, I literally just illustrated this point with a buyer client yesterday.  I showed a printout of my credit score from one year ago when I refinanced my home.  I compared that to a credit report one year later.  I showed him the ratios and his jaw dropped. My score jumped 72 points.  He really gets it now.

Nick, very good information for buyers thinking of purchasing a home in the near future.   Credit scores are used with insurance and rentals - best if you keep your credit CLEAN.

Nick I have seen credit scores jump up by as much as 40-60 points by simply going from maxed out credit cards to a balance of 30% or less of the credit card(s) limit.  Credit scores can increase significantly with the proper advice and guidance.

I was just complaining to my husband the other day that I've had no late payments on anything for probably 30 years, and I haven't been arrested either . . . things are going too well, how did I end up this way? Not even a speeding ticket.

Great information, Nick. I met a lady yesterday who is working to improve her credit score so she can buy a home. It's very important to pay bills on time and not carry a lot of debt. Good stuff here!

Nick, I found your post from a re-blog, buyers need to know that their debt to ratios combined with their FICO scores will determine credibility to qualify. Great job explaining.
