Halloween Decorations in San Francisco

By
Real Estate Agent with Compass CA DRE# 01215160

People in San Francisco--just like people in small towns, in suburbs, in rural areas all over the country--are getting in the spirit of Halloween.

Decorations are beginning to pop up all over town, in houses, on doorsteps, in commercial buildings.

Haunted houses, like Mayhem Mansion are ready to spook one.

Some displays are simple and sweet

simple Halloween/fall decorations

Some are artistic

Skeletons at Davies Hall, SF

Others elaborate and eye-catching

And some houses don't need any decorations at all to put one in the spirit of Halloween

My house? This is the spookiest decoration of all

Some day it will be finished, no longer draped with plastic sheets by day, storage room by night. By Halloween? Doubtful--I think it will haunt me a bit longer.

Good Monday morning Lottie. It seems as if there's always something to do around the house. I do like your decorations.

Hi Lottie.  Some great looking Halloween decorations.  Though, I'm guessing you're ready to be done with yours.

Looks like you've got a major project going on there, but I'm sure it will be well worth dealing with the mess when it's completed.

Hi Lottie --  you're right, home renovations can be quite frightening.

Lottie, having grown up in NYC in apartment style living, I never had any idea that people decorated for Halloween until I was almost 50 years old and moved to Charlotte in 1998. I remember being gob-smacked by the decorations my first year here. Now I decorate as well and have collected quite some nice items for my front door and porch in the past 17 years.

Michael ThorntonGabe Sanders  and Michael Jacobs - I'll be glad to change my Halloween decor to something calmer and more zen-like.

Gita Bantwal and Nina Hollander  - it's fun seeing the decorations spring up. In the city, single-family homes get decorated much more often than condo or apartment buildings do.

Hi Roger D. Mucci - yes, my "frightening" bathroom project will be worth it. We'll have one shower with easy access and no stepping over a tub! (We could have used that 6 months ago when Gene had his surgery.)

Aloha Lottie Kendall , Thank you for your submitting your Halloween Decor post. I agree the scariest Halloween decor is an unlit house, with a single dim light... creepy! Please leave a link at the Haunted Post Parade!

Hi Lottie... the most you'd see in a NYC coop was a wreath on a front door. But as I lived in one with only 2 apartments per floor, it's not like anyone got to see a holiday wreath in any event.

I grew up in the suburbs, in an era before lavish decoration displays became the norm, Nina Hollander. A carved pumpkin in the front window was about the extent of Halloween decorations, and only kids dressed in costumes. Life has changed

Lol, I do know what you mean. I am still doing some repairs and updates in my place. It is really spooky for any homeowner!

About 20% of homes got decoration.  We had a no show up(sounds familiar) at our house and neighborhood. Too far for kids to walk from one to next house.

Hope the turn out is better this year.

I'm with you, Sam Shueh - I would be very disappointed some years when I lived in San Carlos and no trick or treaters would visit.
