Everett is the county seat of and the largest city in Snohomish County, WA, USA. Named after Everett Colby, son of founder Charles L. Colby, it lies 25 miles (40 km) north of Seattle. The city had a total population of 103,019 at the 2010 census, making it the 7th largest in the state and fifth-largest in the Puget Sound area. It received an All-America City Award in 2002.

Parks and Nature

  • Legion Park - also known as American Legion Memorial Park (1.6 hectares). It is located at 145 Alverson Boulevard, on the north side of Everett, overlooking Port Gardner. The park has tennis courts, baseball fields, a playground, and a picnic area.
  • Grand Avenue Park - driving along the neighborhood you will see this attractive park. The views are beautiful, plenty of seating, super clean, and it seemed very safe. This park is in a more upscale neighborhood with great architecturally built houses. It is a dream to live across the street from this park.
  • Spencer Island Park - a larger area known as the Snohomish River Estuary and is a stop on the Washington State Great Birding Trail. The mix of saltwater from Possession Sound and fresh water from the Snohomish River create a unique ecosystem, making it one of the best birding spots in Puget Sound.
  • Howarth Park - is a beautiful beach that easily rivals the Edmonds Marina. A short woodsy walk leads to a Possession Sound beach, with Olympic and Cascade mountain views, lots of logs for seats and plenty of room for Frisbee tosses. The off-leash area is at the north end, to the right as you come down the steps from the railroad over-crossing. Poop bags and garbage cans provided. Restrooms and water elsewhere in park. Not wheelchair accessible. The start of the off-leash area is a bit rocky, but there was enough sand along the waterfront for a man and his dog to play fetch in the water.
  • Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens - is an arboretum and park located at the south end of Legion Park, at the intersection of Alverson and Marine View Drive. Gardens include sculpture and vistas of Puget Sound,

Xfinity Arena

A $83.3 million multi-purpose complex, designed and developed by the Everett Public Facilities District. The Everett Events Center (also known) opened in October 2003. Naming rights were sold to Comcast in 2007, who renamed the arena to Comcast Arena at Everett. In 2014, the name was changed to Xfinity Arena, named after the Xfinity brand that was adopted by the Comcast Cable division.

The 10,000-seat venue has hosted a variety of concerts and other types of performances. A few events that have showcased at Xfinity Arena at Everett include Ringling Brothers Circus, moto cross, and family shows such as Disney on Ice, Harlem Globetrotters, Sesame Street Live and a myriad of others.

Boeing Everett Factory is an airplane assembly building owned by Boeing. Located on the northeast corner of Paine Field, it is the largest building in the world by volume at 13,385,378 m3 (472,370,319 cu ft) and covers 399,480 m2 (98.3 acres).

This is the factory where the wide-body Boeing 747, 767, 777, and 787 are assembled. Boeing was awarded a $525 million contract from Pan American World Airways to build 25 747s. It purchased 780 acres north of the then little-used Paine Field, which was operated by the US Army in World War II. Boeing had an Everett presence since 1943. In 1968 it began offering factory tours with the first roll out of the 747.

The factory includes a BECU branch and several cafés. Across the airport to the west is The Boeing Store, a theater, and a Future of Flight Aviation Center, which runs the factory tour.

Waterfront

The Everett waterfront is home to Naval Station Everett and the Port of Everett (est. 1918). The Port of Everett includes both a deep-water commercial seaport and a marina with over 2000 slips, which it claims to be the largest on the west coast of the United States. Ambitious redevelopment began in 2006 to convert the north end of the waterfront into a community of maritime business, retail shops and condominiums, beginning with the Port of Everett's Port Gardner Wharf. In 2006, the seaport received 119 ships and 59 barges, totaling some 192,000 short tons of cargo.
