The Snow Has Been Flying In Minot ND

 snowman

WOW! We went from unseasonably high temps to below normal in record time this week.

The snow has been flying as our temps have been hovering around the freezing mark.

It's been very light, dry snow so very little has accumulated but none the less in cracks and crevices it has accumulated.

While this little bit will surely dissipate shortly it's a good reminder to get your vehicles serviced for winter. With much of our population coming from different areas of the country I want to urge all to leave a little earlier to get to your destination and show more patience than you are used to showing. A little snow can eliminate a whole lot of friction and that means good business for the Minot Auto Body shops.

That's good advice, Bob, to have your car in tip-top shape, especially when inclement weather is looming.  Check your tires, have plenty of gas in the tank, and throw a blanket in the back of the car with your emergency roadside kit. You never know when you might need it.

And thank goodness a tank of gas no longer costs the same as a new tire Pat Starnes . A blanket is a very good idea even in town. Another good idea is to have a good pair of boots just in case you have to walk to shelter.

UGH. That time of year already? I feel for you.

I just was on a business trip back east last week and flew over quite a number of mountains with snow - living here in SoCal now makes me somewhat jaded, and unaware of what is going on weather-wise elsewhere.

Sounds like a marketing piece on tips for preparing for winter, especially for your car, could be a positive thing to do

Jeff

It seems early for snow, but I saw some in New York and Pennsylvania a couple of weeks ago while traveling.

It would be early if it stays around til next spring Sybil Campbell but if I remember correctly ND has experienced snow every month of the year except July sinse weather records have been kept. Personally I don't ever remember show in June, July, August, or September.

This is outstanding information for all! Having your car serviced for winter, regardless of where you live is a must! The weather can change in a heartbeat. Being prepared and taking the time to ensure road safety is something that can't be ignored!!!

Thank you Bob "RealMan" Timm

Winter driving is a reat "treat" (like tricks and treats) here in the Minot area because of all the out of state folks who work on the Air Force base and in the oil field Patricia Feager, MBA, GRI, Cert Negotiations Expert, Military Relo Prof

Most years I am happy to see snow, but this year we have a project in New Yorks snowbelt that requires us to cease when it reaches 12 inches so I am panicking a bit every time I hear about it.

I used to be that once it froze our construction season came to a halt Bob Crane but these days they just go year around. I remember a couple of years ago seeing workers shingling a roof on Christmas eve.

Good idea on getting the cars serviced. I love snow and here in the North Georgia mountains we get just a few light snow falls but's it's enough to have the beauty without all of the hassle of the snowstorms in the northern states. Have a safe and warm and cozy winter.

Snow on Mt roads scare me Rosemarie Heindel as I am a plainsman. That being said I've seen cars slide for very long distances due to lack of proper road maintenance (salt and sand).

Good Thursday morning Bob. You can keep the snow up north Dakota. I like to see it one day out of the year and then that's it.

That actually sounds good to me Michael Thornton but I can not get my Bride to move to a more reasonable climate.

Good morning Bob,

almost all winterizing is done.

Now I will go outside and blow towards the west to keep it there!

Make yourself a great day.

I've seen your "Lake Effect" snows in NY Raymond E. Camp and they can dwarf the amount of snow we get. Our problem is it just keeps piling up until late April or early May.

From record highs to below normal temperatures; Maybe Al Gore was right about global warming.
