Let's talk about our President. I doubt there is a more scary topic out there now.
Annexation of the Crimea in 2014 was the first step towards WWIII. A small step, but it was the first violation of borders by force since the WWII, and this is the precedent, which put the world on the path to rewriting maps, and, subsequently on a path to WWIII. To add insult to injury, it was done by a Member of the Security Council of UN with the right of veto.
Did we raise hell and got Russia out of the Security Council? Called it an act of aggression, which it was? No, Russia is too big to call it what it is. They have nukes... And we put out tail between the legs and pretended nothing happened.
Just because we pretended that nothing happened, Russia followed by the war in Eastern Ukraine. Which they said they had nothing to do with, and we sort of eaten it...
The rise of Russia was overwhelmingly due to the political vacuum created by our President’s policy … to have no policy. Now you hear it on every corner. We do not have a policy in Middle East, we do not have a policy in Ukraine, we do not, we do not, and we do not…
Our President pretends to lead the world and does it very well. I mean pretending. But the World still sees him the way he is - the naked king.
Putin’s rise is not because Russia is sound economically. It is the opposite. Putin is doing it because like any bully if there is the opening, he would go there and would keep going until he is stopped.
He proved his point. He deeply offended the President, forcing him to get his head out of the sand. Offended not allowing the President the comfort simply look presidential, doing nothing. Showing that “strategic patience” is just another way of keeping the head in the sand.
And this is all we see. And this is all he does.
Yeah, signed the deal with Iran... Now another American has been imprisoned there. More to come...
I remember the feeling of frustration that people do not see what I see, the feeling that it is so obvious, but both the President, and all the President’s men refuse to see it… And no, I am not taking credit for being the smartest a$$ on the block. I read and listen to experts, who are seeing what I am seeing, and who were saying what I was saying… I know Russian, and I read and listen to what Putin is saying, but seems there is nobody, who can translate it for the President, and he is so naively surprised with every Putin’s move…
We learned to love President’s lies. If Asad uses chemical weapon, we would go… And they used, and our President did not say a word... In the State of the Union Address our President bragged how sanctions damage Russia’s economy…
Another convenient lie. If we wanted to stop the bully, the sanctions were too timid. And look at Russia today. If it was all working the way our President tried to present it, how come Putin made such a phenomenal progress in everything he did on the World’s political theater?
Obama said he did not want to meet with him, and then a week later he did. Putin forced him. Then Putin wanted to have the discussion about Syria, and Obama said we were not interested as Putin was bombing wrong targets… And now we are talking in Vienna, and Putin keeps bombing wrong targets…
I know why.
Because those groups, which we are supposedly supporting in Syria, do not want to die bombed by Russians, so they sent their people to Moscow to talk to Putin.
Because Israelis are talking to Putin
Because Saudis are talking to Putin
Because Jordanians are talking to Putin…
Because Europe is talking to Putin…
Because Putin, yesterday’s pariah, forced them to respect him for strength and determination. Putin is not scoring by talking points. He is scoring big time by taking action.
Because when you withdraw from the world scene, others claim it. America's lack of any coherent policy in the World made Putin a major political and military force to be reckoned with. And yes, Putin is the one who pulls the strings, whether our President likes it or not.
When in Vienna they say “American lead coalition”, Russians are laughing…
When I hear about “American lead coalition” I am laughing… with tears
P.S. Watched an excellent as usual Charlie Rose. He was talking to William Harry McRaven, a former United States Navy Admiral, who last served as the ninth commander of the United States Special Operations Command. Listen to the program. It will be an hour well spent. And listen to what admiral said about Putin (and Obama).
Gosh, why out of all brilliant people we chose only those, who look Presidential?
