Cool New Appliances Found In This Luxury Home

Have you seen the 4-bottle wine dispenser designed for home use? or the Miele® Speed Oven?

One of the things I really enjoy about working on new construction listings in the luxury market is seeing the "cool stuff" the builders put into their homes.

Since these items are above my personal price-point, it's unlikely I'd see them otherwise.

A recent home included both the Dacor® 4-bottle wine dispenser and the Miele® speed oven, which were both new to me.

The 4--bottle wine dispenser allows you to have up to 4 bottles open and the unique valve system keeps them fresh for an extended period of time.  The dispenser provides any amount  ... a taste, a glass or a carafe in an instant and with the push of a button.

For this particular builder, he chose to install it in the built-in bar and in so doing, also decided to reduce the size of the wine storage vault.  For more information about this wine dispensing system, go to the Dacor site.

The Miele® speed oven has the speed of a microwave,  but gives you a better quality result andmiele not the pale and rubbery food that can sometimes occur as a result of microwave cooking.

Wholly programmable it can cycle between microwaving and convection  cooking to give the best result --- and also has a grilling/browning element that adds to the appeal of many foods.

Additional information about the Miele® Speed Oven can be found here.

Miele®  seems to be taking a strong hold on our luxury residential market. I'm  seeing an increasing amount of  Miele® Steam Ovens, the Coffee/Beverage Station, the Combi Oven and the sensortronic oven that senses and controls humidity levels while cooking so your food doesn't dry out ---  but this is the first time I've encountered the Speed Oven.

This home also had a programmable jetted laundry sink. Like a jetted tub it is programmable and the series of customized bubble programs you set "vibrate" soil out of your delicates or a whole roster of fabrics  ... pretty neat.

Can't wait to work on my next new construction job --- there's always something new to see, new to learn.

Nice post --- two cheaper ideas I am seeing are  USB ports in the outlets for all of our gadgets and plugs built into the back of pull out drawers for smaller appliances ... even in bathroom drawers for blow dryers etc ....

Michele, I haven't seen those yet .. but they sure get my vote. In a short time USB ports will literally be everywhere as homes are becoming more "smart" and integrated.  Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

I love kitchen "stuff" and always have high-end appliances. I own a miele built-in coffee maker, miele double ovens, a miele dishwasher, etc. But this one I haven't heard of--love it. Sounds like it could be a bit similar to the Advantium, which I also have as miele didn't make these speedy ovens when I was in the market for one.

Nina, I was fascinated by Miele's Sensortronic Oven that monitors humidity of the food as it cooks and self-adjusts so it doesn't dry out --- but this speedy oven seems to be a good workhorse appliance for any kitchen. Thanks for dropping by . PS. I'm seriously envious of your Miele beverage center, I keep casting covetous eyes in the direction of that particular appliance.

Kristin  thanks so much for dropping by and commenting,  yep that Kathy did me a favor for sure and glad you enjoyed it; but , per  Roger's advice( #10) you do not want to go see the 7-room closet I posted a few days ago because it is just too obscene. hee hee

We are so in love with the Beverage station from Meile that we would trust anything that they ahve in their product line would be nothing less than fabulous....always something to add to our "Jetson Kitchen" !

Sally and David, I've been looking at that beverage station for awhile now and glad you enjoy yours (OK ..I'm jealous ... I said it out loud!).. Miele does seem to have a high quality reputation, I haven't encountered anyone yet who was sorry they chose them.  Thanks for coming by.

The four bottle wine dispenser is definitely not something I'm going to find the in the middle class suburbs I tend to frequent.

Hi Chris,  Unlikely I would encounter the 4-bottle wine dispenser unless I was working on new construction for luxury homes .. I've only seen them in new homes .. haven't seen any in recently updated luxury homes (yet) .. but I still like the idea and am always intrigued with the spark of the idea that causes someone to invent/improve something. Thanks for dropping by and commenting.

Agreeing with others....the 4 bottle dispenser is a special luxury item for a few select home owners. Thanks to Kathy Streib for sharing this post!

Hi Margaret, as I commented to Gary Waters (#7), I DO see an increasing amount of wine-related items for the home.  There is a distinct trend underway returning to home entertaining that has not been seen since about the 60's.  While this is a "luxury" item now, I give it about 3-5 years for it to become more common, with more manufacturers and a lower price point.  Easy for me to envision the 2-bottle wine dispenser that sits on your counter and is the must-have Christmas gift a few years from now. Thanks for coming by and commenting.

Judith, these are way over the top, even by my standards!  Love the wine dispenser.  Great for parties where you have a combination of red, white and who knows what else!

Nov 01, 2015 01:37 AM
Judith Sinnard

Hey Patricia ... it's NOT like I have one in my home! Agreed, a little over-the-top for now, but as I said to Margaret (#19) I can see it catching on with more suppliers entering the market and the price-point coming down over the next few years.  I DO think it is an interesting idea to "dispense" wine and have a means to keep an open bottle of wine fresh over an extended period of time (60 days?).. thanks for dropping by.

I'll take one!  My husband would love a wine dispenser. Very cool stuff.

I like the "dispensing" part of it ... a glass at a time ... and I like the preservation system that keeps the wine fresh over a period of time.  I wonder if this was a "drunk idea"? ... you know some of the best ideas were "drunk ideas".. I wonder if this was one? Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Adding either of these luxury accessories would have an impact on both my sobriety and or girth Judith. Who do I make the check out to? Here via Kathy!

Kevin, isn't it funny that something you never knew existed is something you WANT when you see it ..  yup that was me when I saw this ...and both would have an impact on my sobriety and girth --- but I'd still be pretty darn happy about it!  Thanks for droping by to comment.

Well nothing on your list will be on my Christmas list, but if I win the lottery I guess my cats might enjoy a spa like bath in the mud sink. LOL  And I'm for better cooking, but don't want my food microwaved at all.

Nov 01, 2015 04:57 AM

Yep.. you could put some bubble bath in there and they'd have a regular spa day ... it's probably on THEIR Christmas list. Thanks for coming by and commenting.

Nice idea Judith Sinnard - I am sure many will be 'SOLD' on that itself! After all, it's a luxury home.

Yes,Praful ... you nailed it .. the bar is set pretty high for a luxury builder to put into his home a number of  "high end" features that will attract and secure buyers. Luxury buyers have an expectation of it's new, it's different, its' whiz-bang and of course it's a luxury "brand" they want ... darn few Whirlpool, KitchenAid or Kenmore appliances at this price point. Thanks for dropping by and commenting.

Isn't that interesting.. I never thought of it as a "family name" but only as a manufacturing name (brand).... but  Sharon, don't we all wish we were related to the rich ones!  hee hee

Hahahahah Roy, that's too funny.  Miele has quite a few ovens with unqiue features but they come at a price, for sure. Luckily I don't cook all that much, but I sure do have an interest in Miele's programmable beverage center (also pricey) <sigh> Thanks for stopping by to comment.

I'm so old-fashioned, I don't use a microwave nor the dish washer.  The wine dispenser would be useful if I drank.  LOL

Hi Carla .. I for sure don't drink enough wine to make use of a dispenser system.. but I was intrigued with the idea.. thanks for stopping by to comment.
