How To Know If You Are A Pluviophile

I found out that I am a pluviophile when I joined Pinterest. Oh, I had always known I was because I truly love rain, but I didn't know there was a name for it. How do you know if you are a pluviophile?

  • The sound of rain on the roof or splashing in the streets comforts you. You get a sense of peace when you hear rain.
  • You enjoy the darkness that the clouds bring.
  • You love walking in the rain and don't mind being wet. You like to splash in puddles.
  • You want to bottle up that "rainy" smell.
  • You add rain apps to your tablets and cell phones.
  • You love curling up with a good book or dreaming about the rain.
  • Umbrellas are an important item in your wardrobe. You are fussy about choices.

How To Know If You Are A Pluviophile

Now you know what a pluviophile is; and only you can determine if you are one. Let me know.

Good morning Toni Weidman ,

I'm so glad I caught Kathy Streib's post this morning! She featured your post and I've never heard of this word before. I have to admit I enjoy a nice rain ONCE in awhile but much prefer sunny upbeat days! I would find it difficult to live where it always is rainy..I like clear blue skies, sunny rays and enjoy bodies of water like lakes and pools

I guess that I am one, having read this list, Toni. But... I don't like walking in the rain.

I was cured of my plubiophilism after moving to Florida almost 30 years ago. This past year seemed to have the most rain days ever. The one caveat is that our rain is rarely cool enough to be a huge discomfort so walking in it can provide refreshment at times. Here via Kathy!

I never heard of a Pluviophile, but now have a new word in my vocabulary.

I like the sound of rain, and LOVE thunderstorms, but in general, I am much happier on a sunny day. Sitting on my deck in the sun with a good book puts a bigger smile on my face than sitting on the couch on a rainy day. So I'm thinking Pluviophile does not describe me.

What a great word, pluviophile, which I can add to my vocabulary. I would say I am one, except we rarely get rain in SoCal -- although we are expected to get rain on Monday. Possibly.

Great post!  I hadn't heard this term before, but as a Midwestern girl transplanted in the desert I guess I am because I love the infrequent rain we get in Phoenix.

Thunderstorms with cracks of lightning and horrific scary booms frighten the beezjus outta me. I'm under the bed with the cats. I don't particularly enjoy driving in the rain or walking in the rain or getting wet by being showered upon, and rain is often cold. However, when it doesn't rain for 8 months in Sacramento, I miss the rain. I quickly get over it, though, when January rolls around.
