This is an interesting challenge, but a good one. The list of my blessings is a long one, but what is it specifically that I am the most thankful for as far as the impact on my business? Hmmm. Honestly, I think it is the intangibles, as opposed to things.
1. I am grateful to be able to go to work at a place where I love and respect my associates. What a blessing that is! To be able to go to work and be surrounded by good, honorable people who are kind and compassionate. Competitive, aggressive and lively - but GENUINELY nice people.
2. I am grateful for past clients who continue to refer business my way. Who trust me to take care of the people they care about. Who make me feel that their lives are just a little better for my having passed through them.
3. I am grateful for good health, for the physical ability to do what needs done. In spite of my need for knee replacements, I can walk. I can get where I need to go on my own two feet. Slow and steady wins the race!
4. I am grateful that back in the olden days I learned how to write, spell, punctuate, and use correct grammar. That I know the difference between there, they're and their. And your and you're, and so on. That I can communicate with the written word and look polished and professional. I have lately realized that it is a dying art form.
5. I am grateful that I am the master of my own fate. That if I work hard and smart, I am rewarded in direct proportion to my efforts. I am the boss of me, and I don't have to settle for anything that I don't want in my life. I control my own destiny, and life is good.
I'm getting ready to send out my November newsletter, here is an excerpt that ties into this topic:
Being Grateful Makes You Happier and Healthier
IT'S SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN!
Did you know that counting your blessings increases your emotional health? Researchers had one group of students write for 20 minutes each day about things they were grateful for.
A second group wrote about things they were angry about, and a third group wrote about random topics such as the color of their shoes.
Guess which group was happiest at the end of the experiment? The ones who wrote about things they were grateful for were the happiest!
And the unexpected bonus? Those who wrote about the things they were grateful for were less likely to be sick throughout the semester.
Gratitude is a quality I have found in every happy person I know.
