Are we really in the 21st Century?

Are we really in the 21st Century?

Could have fooled me ...

When it comes to transportation and cars there has been very little advancement.

In the 1980's GM had produced an electric car that later was recalled by oil companies and the US Government. And finally after 25 - 30 years electric cars are going strong.

But other than that and a handful of monaural transit systems there hasn't been much advancement ;o/

Everyday I drive around the Bay Area in Northern California, I scratch my head with disbelief and confusion on "WHY" there are so many cars on the road?

And with most of these cars only having the driver in them!

And this is only one area in the country and world with hundreds of thousands of cars, what a waste!

This is totally "Crazy" and a complete waste of money, gas, time and so much more ;o(

Humans are so primitive, and I know that extraterrestrials are shaking their heads with disbelief when they view us driving around in gasoline powered vehicles ;o(

Bob,
You would think at least one city would have come up with a workable model by now. Still waiting.

As the suppossed "greatest nation", I'm surprised we don't have something like a bullit train that goes coast to coast.  We really have very limited mass transportation choices and infrastructure is deteriorating.

Humans really are still pretty primitive, besides weapons nothing has advanced all that much. I test drove a Tesla recently and am ordering one shortly, those cars are pretty darn amazing.

I'd car pool Robert (Alaska Bob) Swetz but as a Realtor who's going to travel the same routes I am? I did retire the van for a little Toyota and I'd love to drive a hybrid but I don't want to spend the bucks.

Alaska Bob - Yes, we are behind the times with regards to mass transportation, and I don't think that we will ever get to where we need to be. There doesn't seem to be any motivation to develop such a system.

Sorry Bob, Californians love their freedom, and we warned there are some rich oil guys in Kansas who are currently spending billions to keep future alternative energy sources from getting started.

Hello Bob and it's just a matter of time my friend ;o) and just about the time cars completely switch from oil to electric, the oil companies will have found a way to own a piece of the electric car industry ;o(
