Monmouth Beach is a borough within Monmouth County, New Jersey. The small section of the Jersey Shore is only a little over one square mile of land, with ocean to the east and the Shrewsbury River to the northwest. The other Monmouth County communities of Little Silver, Long Branch, Rumson, and Seabright border it.
The area was first settled by Europeans in 1668 and was incorporated as a borough in 1906.
In 2012, Monmouth Beach was featured in Forbes magazine’s rankings of “Most Expensive ZIP codes,” coming in at 276th. The small beach community is known for its historic house as well as new, multimillion-dollar homes. With its quaint Victorian charm, expanded beachfront, and limitless entertainment opportunities, it’s easy to see why Monmouth Beach is such a sought-after locale.
Monmouth Beach boasts two beach clubs –Monmouth Beach Bathing Pavilion and Monouth Beach Bath and Tennis Clubs. Both have beautiful facilities equipped with a pool and beach access, along with swim teams and other activities. The beach offers fishing as well as good waves for surfing. The nearby Shrewbury River is perfect for numerous activities such as sailing, kayaking, and fishing. Pier Village in Long Branch is close by, offering more than 30 boutiques, multiple restaurants, and year-round events.
Public school students kindergarten through 8th grade attend the Monmouth Beach School. For grades 9 through 12, students attend Shore Regional High School, which also serves students from other districts of Monmouth County. There are also top-rated private schools nearby, such as the Christian Brothers Academy, Trinity Hall, and Red Bank Catholic.
