Fair Haven is a wealthy borough in Monmouth County, New Jersey. It is located on the Rumson Peninsula and is bordered by the Navesink River on one side and communities of Red Bank and Little Silver on the other. The borough has a total of 2.112 square miles, with 1.597 square miles of land and 0.515 square miles of water.
Fair Haven’s first permanent structure was built in 1816, along the Navesink River. By the mid-19th century it was a hub of activity, serving as a stop for steamboats on their route from Red Bank to New York City, bringing visitors to the area and oysters to the city.
Fair Haven offers a wonderful small-town atmosphere, with quiet neighborhoods, parks, and a charming historic shopping district. Only 26 miles from New York City, many move to the area seeking refuge from city, and commute to work. The nearest train station is in Red Bank, where you can catch the North Jersey Coast Line commuter rail to any number of other communities, including Manhattan. There are local buses from Fair Haven to Red Bank.

Area high school students, along with students from Rumson, attend the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High school. The charming, small-town feeling is even present in the schools, with many children riding their bicycles to and from when the weather is good.
