Change is Inevitable.

The Outcome From That Change is Not

This last weekend was filled with "My Little Pony", "Shopkins", and "My Littlest Pet Shop" toys.

Our grandbaby, Marilyn, visited with us while her Mom and Dad were busy.  As usual, she had her collection of Ponies, Pets, games, and toys in tow with her when she arrived.

Her cousin, Eva Mae, is much the same when she visits us.  She typically has her favorite doll or stuffed animal tucked under her arm.  Or our little gymnast is tumbling and twirling as she comes through the door.

As the father of only boys, having grand-daughters has been a new experience for me.  These beautiful little girls have taught me much, as I can now pass a quiz about Ponys and Shopkins with flying colors.  I can also make a pony tail with the best of 'em.

Yep.  My grand-daughters have brought big changes to my life.  And not just in the number of hugs and kisses I receive.  I have to admit, I'm lovin' it ...

After little Marilyn's visit, it occurred to me just how much my life has changed since she (and our other grandbabies) entered it.  Both personally and professionally.

It's been said that "the only thing constant in life is change".  That's certainly been true at the Mundt house since our first grandbaby arrived 5 years ago.  But that's certainly been true in the Mortgage industry over the last 5 years too.

As with most things in life, change is handled better by some than others.  Some see change as an opportunity.  They embrace it.  They stretch, grow, learn ... apply the change fluidly and successfully.  I know I've certainly tried very hard to do this with my mortgage services.

But for others?  The opposite is true.  Change comes hard ...

For them, when changes arrive, the outcome found is often the direct result of the attitude and mindset with which they approach that change.  And like dominoes, their attitude and mindset affects the people around them ... and those they provide services to.

Current and future Mortgage Applicants should considerthis seriously when searching for a Lender.  So should real estate professionals when they refer.

     Ask:

  • How has the Lender handled all the changes that have occurred within the industry?
  • Have they educated themselves to the many changes?
  • How many loans have they Closed since the changes took effect?
  • Has a pattern of successful Closings emerged?

The answers found to the above questions are a good indication of how your (or your client's) mortgage processing will progress ... and of the likelihood of your finding a successful outcome.

There are vast differences between Lenders ...

Do your homework.  Get referrals.  Don't leave your choice of Lender to chance.  There's way too much at stake.

Find yourself a Lender that has responded well ... responded positively to the challenge raised by recent changes.  And has proof of such in the form of multiple Closed mortgages and solid referral testimonies.

Change is inevitable.  But the outcome from that change is not ...

Hi George - yes I see we have companion pieces today.  How we handle change makes the difference in our success.  When I work with companies one of their top "pain" items is change management.

Gene- you are so right...change is a part of life... it is inevitable.  It is how we react  to that change that defines us.

Ah, Gene Mundt, Chicago-area Mortgage Lender - www.genemundt.com, you say it so well.   You know, I resemble  that lender you are describing too.   Agents and buyers would be good to use either of us who have mastered the changes over the years.

Good morning Gene. We are both fortunate the way we get our business. Because clients are being referred you, they don't need to ask as many questions about you, as they were most likely sent to you by people they already trust.

A well deserved feature, very important topic.

Such a wonderful analogy on how we all need to be open to change.  So great to hear how much you enjoy your time with Marilyn and Eva Marie too.....and of course all of your grandchildren.

Yes, our response to change is what defines how successful we are in dealing with it.

By the way, what's a Shopkins? (asks the mother and stepmother of four men)

I know Marilyn has a few Shopkin games she plays on her iPad, Dick Greenberg ... the allure escapes me.  But she likes it ... so Grampa plays Shopkins.  I'm sure you understand ...

Yes, whether willingly or reluctantly, the changes must be accepted and mastered to survive, Margaret Goss.  The positive approach always seems to work best for me .. and I would suspect others as well ...

Now THAT would be a blog I'd pay to see, George Souto!!  Please share if and when that happens, will you???

We certainly were given enough time to react positively, Patricia Kennedy ... but you may be correct in your assumption and have connected the dots between grandchildren and happy results!

Thank you, Mark Harbison ... I appreciate your very kind words ...

To tell you the truth Judy Greenberg ... I thought that the message of the blog might be overshadowed by all their "cuteness" if I included their pic!!  How's that for a very proud Grampa????

But now that you've opened that door, I'll include some pics of them.  Just remember ... you asked for it!

Marilyn Marjorie Mundt - 5 yrs.

                                                        Henry Mundt - 4 yrs.

Eva Mae Mundt - 2 yrs.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to show them off, Judy ...

A pain we must get over and past, Grant Schneider ... but 2 great minds tackling 1 similar thought!

Exactly, Kathy Streib ... but it can also affect others.  Especially in our industry.  Potential clients need to understand that ..

Very wise indeed, Deanna Early ... it can impact them greatly .. and their outcome.

After reading (and hearing) once again about the stats regarding the amount of time and effort put into choosing a lender ... I thought it so too, Joe Petrowsky.  People don't give the act of choosing enough weight ...

Thank you, Roger D. Mucci.  We know how lucky we are to have all 3 of our granchildren living close.  We get to see them often ...  and we feel blessed by that.

Kat Palmiotti ... Shopkins are little tiny characters about the size of a man's thumbnail.  They are food items that you find in a grocery store, etc. ... with silly names.  We have Shopkins Bingo ... the Shopkins game ... and handfuls of Shopkin characters that visit us fairly often!

So true! I wrote yesterday about Using a Reputable Lender to Finance your Dream Home. Here's my favorite quote, (other than the cute grandkids):

Do your homework.  Get referrals.  Don't leave your choice of Lender to chance.  There's way too much at stake.

Good morning Gene. You are one proud grandfather, as you should be, a few times for you, only once for me.

You shared some great questions, that is certainly the place to start for anyone that will be in need of a mortgage.

Congrats Gene Mundt, Chicago-area Mortgage Lender - www.genemundt.com - having a grand-daughter is a blessing!

And when it comes to comparing lenders - believe me, it is equally applicable to real estate agents, too. Hence.....

"Don't leave your choice of Lender to chance.  There's way too much at stake."

Work with a referred agent/broker.
